Green Appliances

Years ago, the idea of turning electronic home appliances into energy conserving ones seem too farfetched. Yet, technology has proven that anything can be possible, including electronic things that save energy. Energy conserving appliances, which can also be called green appliances, are now getting more and more popular in the market today, not only because they can considerably lessen one’s monthly electric bill but also because they are also environment friendly.

Green appliances certainly make the transition from traditional practices into a green lifestyle easier as compared to having to remodel and redesign the house which could take a considerable chunk from one’s savings. Shopping for green appliances is easy as well since they are popular these days. One of the indications that an appliance is “green” is the certification from the international standard for energy efficient products called the Energy Star. Most energy star products include home appliances. Going green can start from buying energy efficient lights that require up to ninety percent less energy than the usual ones. Sure, these lights may cause a little more expensive than the existing lights in our houses but, considering that these lights can last up to ten times as long as those incandescent lights we use today, in addition to the fact that they are a very significant energy reducer, the cost is very much worth it.

Refrigerators and dishwashers are now also available in energy efficient models. Energy efficient refrigerators save up to twenty percent of the energy used by traditional refrigerators while energy efficient dishwashers can save up to forty percent energy.
